NAHARANG ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Customs – Port of Clark sa pamumuno ni District Collector Ricardo Uy Morales II, noong Hunyo 26, 2023, ang isang export shipment na naglalaman ng P1.794-milyong halaga ng methamphetamine hydrochloride o mas kilala bilang shabu, papuntang South, Korea.
Ang nasabing nadiskubreng illegal drugs ay isang shipment na idineklara bilang “used MI smart speaker” na ipinadala mula Pasig City.
Inisyal itong itinag bilang kahina-hinala ng X-ray Inspection Project (XIP) personnel, ngunit makaraang isalang sa K9 Unit ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) ay nagpositibo sa presensya ng dangerous drugs.
Kasunod na isinagawa ang physical examination ng trade control examiner na naging daan sa pagkakadiskubre sa isang speaker na naglalaman ng plastic pouch ng crystalline substances.
Na-turnover sa PDEA ang sample nito para sa chemical laboratory analysis, na nakumpirma bilang methamphetamine hydrochloride o shabu, isang dangerous drug sa ilalim ng Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 o Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Dahil dito, nag-isyu ng Warrant of Seizure and Detention order si District Collector Morales laban sa shipment dahil sa paglabag sa Section 118 (g), 119 (d) at 1113 par. (f), (i), and (l)-(3) and (4) ng Customs Modernization and Tariff Act na may kaugnayan sa RA No. 9165.
Ang nabanggit na illegal drugs ay na-turnover sa PDEA para sa kaukulang disposisyon.
“We commend our people in the Export Unit, XIP, and Customs Anti-illegal Drugs Task Force (CAIDTF), for strictly implementing our border security controls for outbound shipments. This is a testament that we are firm in intensifying our anti-illegal drugs campaign for both imports and exports,” ani District Collector Morales.
